Council Statement on St. Mark Status

Members of St. Mark and Brother Knights,
Some time ago Council 15447 issued a bulletin announcement concerning the future of St. Mark Parish as well as the future of St. Mark Council 15447 of the Knights of Columbus. As we now know our parish will be suppressed on April 30th, 2024 and we will become members of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption.

Change can be a very hard and painful thing to accept, especially after all these years. While we may naturally feel a loss, that feelings in a way a tribute to the spirit nurtured by our St. Mark family over the years. Let us work to keep the spirit of St. Mark alive as we go forward with our brothers and sisters of St. Mary. Would failing to do so not betray that spirit? Our task now should be to support and enhance our new family.

Council 15447 has served the St. Mark parish family since our founding in 2012. We will continue that service to the  Catholic community of Lancaster and our St. Mary Parish family as an active council.
Now is not the time to retreat and fold our proverbial tent and sulk off in bitterness. It is the time for all of us to stand and make an even bigger difference. now is the time to do what we can for our blended parish.
We of Council 15447 appeal to the Catholic women of our community to consider the Emerald Ladies and men who have thought about joining our Order taking that next step into membership. COME JOIN US!
