​Interesting Facts About the Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus has 1.9 million members globally
with more than 10,000 local councils in theUnited States,
Canada, Mexico, Philippines,
South Korea, Ukrain, Poland
and France.
1959
On Nov. 20, 1959, the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., is dedicated with more than 1,000 Knights forming the honor guard. Knights contributed $1 million, via a $1.25 per-capita assessment over five years, for construction of the 329-foot bell tower.
There are two councils in the City of Lancaster. On June 25,1905, Lancaster Council 1016 was called to order
and St. Mark15447 was Chartered February 3, 2012.
The Knights funded the restoration of Bernini's baldacchino above the altar of St. Peter's Basilica for the Jubillee 2025.
Last year the Knights of Columbus dedicated 48 million hours to serving others and our brother Knights donated a record - breaking $197 million to those in need.
